Worked from an illustration to design, prototype, and build a large body/rod puppet for theatre performance. Responsible for all pattern making, cutting, prototyping, sewing, dyeing, surface design, breakdown of fabric elements, and complete construction of the final product.
Designed and built four puppets for Wellington Summer Shakespeare Trust’s outdoor production of “The Tempest”. Two of the main characters, Ariel and Caliban, were primarily represented by puppets. Employed a wide variety of materials and techniques aimed working with the challenges of an outdoor, windy venue and novice puppeteers.
I have special expertise in dyeing and fabric finishes, costume breakdown/art finishing, weaving/knitting/fibre art, foam smithing, leatherworking, and stretch fabrics.
